On Monday, 9 February, Minister Plenipotentiary Drs. Gracita R. Arrindell attended the fourth Wellenstein Lecture, organized by the Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV), at Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
The lecture, titled “The Trans-Atlantic Relationship: Anatomy of a Breakup,” was delivered by renowned foreign affairs commentator and author Sylvie Kauffmann. Against the backdrop of recent geopolitical developments. The lecture offered a timely and thought-provoking analysis of the evolving trans-Atlantic relationship.
Kauffmann, foreign columnist and former Editor-in-Chief of Le Monde, reflected on the historical foundations of the trans-Atlantic alliance and explored the complex political and strategic dynamics now reshaping relations between Europe and the United States.
Reflecting on the event, Minister Arrindell noted: “It was a pleasure attending this thought-provoking lecture by Sylvie Kauffman. Her insights into the evolving geopolitical landscape were both timely and compelling. About The Wellenstein Lecture
The Wellenstein Lecture is named after Dr. Edmund P. (“Mom”) Wellenstein (1919–2016), a pioneer of European integration and honorary member of the AIV. The event brought together policymakers, diplomats, academics, and international relations experts for dialogue and reflection, followed by a networking reception.
